Sons of The American Legion Detachment of West Virginia Commander Rocky Fox

Rocky Allen Fox was born in Berkeley Springs to Asher E.and Violet V. Smith-Fox on July 22,1958. Rocky attended Berkeley Grade School and graduated from Berkeley Springs High School in 1978. While in high school Rocky excelled in the sport of wrestling ,earning the title of By-State Champion three consecutive years. During high school Rocky attend James Rumsey Vo-Tec earning a journeyman title in masonry. Rocky is an avid whitetail deer hunter and has been with several nephews and a grandson as they bagged their first big one.

After working as a mason and construction for many years he now has worked for Morgan County School Board for the last thirteen years. He loves to interact with the students at Pleasant View Elementary as well as the teachers and parents.

Rocky has held nearly every office in his squadron and is presently serving as Finance Officer. Rocky is very active with the flag program. He has helped with the placement of flags on veterans graves for Memorial Day for many years and assists in putting the flags up in Berkeley Springs for all state and federal holidays.

Rocky's first American Legion State Convention was in Wheeling ,WV July of 2004. He hasn't missed a mid winter conference or convention since. He was appointed Detachment Chaplain at his second convention,which is how his journey to Detachment Commander began. Rocky attended his first National Conventional 2009.

Rocky is the third child of four. Older brother Wink and sister Ronda both live in Hancock, Md and younger sister Dede lives in Berkeley Springs. Rocky has one daughter Autumn and two grandsons Landon and Dylan, who is Detachment of WV Sergt -of -Arms. Rocky is a member of the Moose Lodge 1483 and is a fire police for Berkeley Springs Fire Company. Rocky spends a lot of the month of December volunteering his time to help the "Big Man" in red.
